The route in the dense fir forest towards Prophet Elias
We start from the square of the village of Agios Nikolaos, ascending the picturesque alley and in a short time we are on our off-road route.
The dense fir forest awaits us and we drive through a natural green landscape where colors are constantly changing.
1st Stop
Pyrgaki
A clearing in the heart of the forest surrounded by trees and opposite us the high peak of Velouchi
(2314 m.).
We continue and on our right among the branches of the fir trees the city of Karpenisi emerges.
The unique beauty and the scent of the mountains, the color variations of the trees and the plants, the creeks that run freely among the stones and every sound keeps us from getting bored even for a minute.
2nd Stop
Chapel of Prophet Elias
Wandering through the forest we come across the picturesque and stone-built chapel of Prophet Elias. Spectacular views of the peaks of Koniskos, Helidona and Velouchi.
Karpenisi, built in the embrace of Velouchi, welcomes us. At this point you will enjoy the magnificent view and take some awesome photos.
The whole landscape invites us to a continuous exploration. No one has so far imagined what we will encounter in the next stop.
3rd Stop
In the forest
This sight is extraordinary and yet real. We will recall the old Greek movies.
We will laugh….We will take pictures…We will have a lot to talk about…But the surprises don’t stop here.
Immediately after that we will cross a natural rill. Nature itself has managed to create this special place for us and we fully enjoy it, but above all we respect it.
End of Route
Chapel of Agia Paraskevi
We left the chapel of Agia Paraskevi for the end of the route. It bears a stone sign dated back to August 30 of 1879.
It is located in an area covered in dense vegetation.
